It has always been our dream to find a place in the sun that we could share with family and friends.
After many years of renting homes throughout the Outer Banks of North Carolina, it was evident that Corolla felt like our home away from home.
In the fall of 2000, we purchased the land on which the Purple Pelican now resides. That was the first step to making our dream come true.

By Christmas 2003, after numerous design reviews, material discussions, and construction planning, we had perfected our architectural and project plans and passed the many hurdles to obtain our building permit.
First, came the clearing of the lot followed by many truck loads of beautiful white sand to build up the areas where large roots had been removed.
Pilings were delivered and finally put into the ground in January, 2004. Construction had begun!

With a few bumps due to weather delays and good fishing, construction had been pretty much on target.
Everyone has kicked in to make this dream a reality.
Now, it is time to sit back and relax, remember the labors of love, and invite you to enjoy our hospitality.
